His topic: how to localize using only a camera 📷 and a 3D map 🗺️, without a satellite positioning system?
An essential question for the autonomous navigation of helicopters 🚁, particularly in areas where GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) is not available.
His method, presented in the article “Robust Bayesian Registration of 2D–3D Semantic Point Clouds with Probabilistic Data Association”, allows for the intelligent association of visual information with a 3D map for reliable localization.
His work was carried out under the supervision of François Vincent (ISAE), @Jean-Yves Tourneret (ENSEEIHT) and @Philippe Salmon (Collins Aerospace).
