The ISAE group has now achieved a size and reputation enabling it to bring together a group of schools, called the ISAE group, around the excellence of its training courses (SUPAERO, ENSICA, Masters, Ph.Ds) and its highly reputed brand.
The vocation of the ISAE group is to bring together French higher education institutions in aerospace under a single banner, in order to extend the influence of these institutions both nationally and internationally, and to promote aerospace engineer training.
By officially confirming its membership of the ISAE group on 12 May 2011, ENSMA will keep its independence and legal personality, but has opted to share the same common values and objectives with the ISAE, focusing on three major orientations :
– superior training with the adoption of a teaching model that blends high-level scientific knowledge with contemporary socio-economic realities and personal self-realization of students;
– research with the development of a strong education-research relationship enabling future engineers to develop their creativity and their taste for innovation;
– international openness through partnerships in European and international networks and programs, enabling exchanges at engineering student, lecturer or researcher levels.
Engineering School in Aeronautics and Space
Air, Space, IPSA
IPSA trains aeronautics and space enthusiasts through its specialist engineering course.
Located at the crossroads of the industrial and academic worlds and with its research laboratories dedicated to aerospace, it places innovation at the heart of its training and also promotes international openness. It is present in 3 French regions where many companies linked to the world of air and space are located.
It was founded in 1949 in Paris-Orly, and moved to Toulouse in 1968. It merged with the SEFA (Service d’Exploitation de la Formation Aéronautique) on January 1, 2011. The « Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile » (ENAC) is a unique example : it is the only aviation-oriented university in France offering a wide and complete panel of aeronautics-oriented training programmes and activities, serving the aeronautical world, and particularly the air transport sector.
The ENAC university is made up of :
– 2,000 students in 25 various training courses : engineer, air transport pilot, air controller, etc.,
– 7,500 trainees each year in 400 continuing education programmes or advanced training courses,
– 10 research labs,
– International activities : ENAC welcomes hundreds of international students and trainees from the 5 continents each year,
– A education team having an exceptional amount of professional skills and know-how,
– High level training material associated with its multidisciplinary activities : ATC simulators, flight simulators, 135 aircrafts, laboratories for electronics, data processing, aerodynamics, languages, etc…
Through all these activities, the ENAC university is committed to meeting the requirements of the aeronautical field, in which both private and public actors are involved, either in France or abroad.
In more than 60 years, with 20,000 alumni, ENAC has acquired recognition, in France and abroad, of all the partners belonging to the wide range of its activities.
Today, thanks to the acknowledged skills of its teachers, searchers, students, trainees and its whole staff, the ENAC university is looking to strengthen its influence throughout the world, being always committed in its field of excellence : aeronautics.
IMT Atlantique is a leading general engineering school (among the top 400 universities in the world in THE World University Ranking 2019, ranked as the third engineering school in France) and is internationally recognized for its research (present in 4 themes of the Shanghai ranking). It is part of the Institut Mines-Télécom and comes under the aegis of the Ministry of industry and digital technology.
With 3 campuses, each with its own incubator, in Brest, Nantes and Rennes, and a site in Toulouse, IMT Atlantique aims to combine digital technology, energy and the environment to transform society and industry through training, research and innovation and to be the leading French institution of higher education and research in this field on the international scale.
Since September 2018, IMT Atlantique has been offering a new programme for general engineers. Students are recruited through the French Mining and Civil Engineering entrance examination (“Concours Mines-Ponts”) The School also awards two apprenticeship engineering diplomas, master’s degrees, specialized master’s degrees and doctorates.
IMT Atlantique is responsible for engineering courses based on cutting-edge research carried out in 6 joint research units : GEPEA, IRISA, LATIM, LABSTICC, LS2N and SUBATECH. Partners include CNRS, INRIA, INSERM, universities and engineering schools. The School is a member of the Carnot M.I.N.N.E.S Institute (Innovative Methods for Business and Society), the Carnot Telecom & Digital Society Institute (TSN) and a founding member of the Université Bretagne Loire community of universities and institutions.
Founded in 1961, the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) is the government agency responsible for shaping and implementing France’s space policy in Europe.

SpaceAble: the future of SSA
Space Situational Awareness (SSA) refers to the knowledge and observation of human and natural threats in space. Over the next five years, there will be a tenfold increase in low Earth orbit satellites, resulting in a heightened risk of collisions.
The space community is currently unprepared for this massive paradigm shift. SpaceAble is therefore offering two disruptive solutions to preserve the space environment:
ISSAN, an innovative space data processing software, and the Orbiter, an inspection satellite that provides exclusive data.
Our ISSAN platform is a promising new technology that combines AI, Blockchain, and Cryptography. Through this subtle balance of emerging technologies, ISSAN is able to successfully address space needs related to space weather, the tracking of debris, and the management of space traffic.
The Orbiter is an autonomous and nimble inspector satellite. Using cutting-edge technology, the Orbiter services client satellites by providing reliable, secure, and certified data to prolong their lifetime.
