This paper describes new impact analyses carried out on the imperfections of clock signals in the innovative but not well-known N-path Frequency Down-converter. Using an evolution of a previously developed analytical model, these analyses give more insight on the performance of the N-path Frequency Down-converter and allow more precise trouble-shooting of an Integrated Circuit realized on this principle. They are compared with measurements.

In this paper, we introduce correlation technologies both at RF/mmWave and Base-Band frequencies. At RF and mmWave frequencies power-spectra and energy-spectra metrics are introduced for measuring the power-density of mobile devices and systems. The use of unified power-spectra and energy-spectra metrics leads to innovative Electromagnetic-Thermal sensing solutions for OTA-Testing. At Base-Band frequencies, DSP-based Convolutional-Accelerators are proposed for fast and accurate measurement of EVM (Error Vector Magnitude) using correlation technologies. New ASIC-embedded Smart-Connectors are developed for bringing correlation-based signal processing close to antenna-in-package (AiP) modules. Porting of the DSPbased Convolutional-Accelerators into advanced FD-SOI-ASIC platforms for co-integration with adaptive RF/mmWave Front-End-Modules will enable real-time extraction of auto-correlation and cross-correlation functions of stochastic signals for mobile devices and systems. Perspectives toward optically synchronized interferometric-correlation technologies are drawn for accurate measurements of stochastic EM fields in noisy environments.

EVM and NPR definitions and optimum measurement.

EVM is defined in many communication standards. These definitions are generally procedures to result in a percentage always slightly different in different standards cookbook recipes and not mathematical definitions. Uncertainty on this measurement difficult to assess : problem for evaluation of measurement equipment by users, problem for calibration of measurement equipment.

Higher Dynamic Measurement of Antenna Passive Intermodulation Products, Using Ray Optics

Auteur : Sombrin Jacques B.

In Proc. European Conference on Antennas and Propagation (EuCAP), Davos, Suisse, April 10-15, 2016.

Passive intermodulation products may occur when two or more carriers are transmitted through a passive device such as a filter, a transmission line or an antenna or if they are reflected from one object. These products are generally due to distributed non-linearity along the transmission path or the reflector of the antenna. We show that ray optics can be used to determine easily the directions in which these products are in phase and reinforced. This is particularly significant for multihorn fed reflector antennas, for multiple antennas systems and for higher dynamic in measurement of passive intermodulation.

This paper proposes a multi-tone signal pattern designed for accurate and easy measurements of nonlinear devices linearity factors of merit. The stimulus signal we propose ensures that DUT’s third order intermodulation products won’t overlap. Thus, the relative phases of source tones do not affect the amplitudes of intermodulation products. The usual metrics for linearity factors, ACPR (Adjacent Channel Power Ratio) or NPR (Noise Power Ratio), can be acquired with a greater accuracy only with amplitude measurements. This work has been carried out with a sampler-based receiver, using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) filtering for tone separation.
